Yep, I'm back, two years later...
Appologies for being so terrible at this. Must try harder.

Update on the writing:

Novel: middle of chapter 10. Roughly 36'000 words and Grace is not as annoying as she used to be.
Prep for a certain US workshop: Sci-Fi is not easy to write... especially when I've read so little of it. But I want to give it a stab... or a lightsword poke. Whatever.
Poems: wrote one on Christmas Eve intitled "Sunset from Hartland Quay". Haven't done any since.
Other: finished a short story entitled The Lioness but have deemed it unsuitable for previously mentioned workshop. Not genre enough. Too angsty.

Update on the life:
Wedding: 2011... if we're lucky (as in, if we win the lottery).
Uni: Yay!
Job: finished the census one successfully. I might look for a part-time thingy (less than 25h/week this time) around Feb-March. And, as ever, Mrs Novel in the sidelines.

Uninspired for anything else right now... need to write some s-f/fantasy stuff quickly. And well.

Useless invention of the day: a snow canon in the underground passage of Lausanne station to allow people to ski down the Petit Chêne and all the way to their trains (accessory: mini ski-lifts that take you up to the platforms... )

I'm already getting into the bad habit of not writing on this as much as I should, I guess... but then not much has happened in my sad little life over the past week. I stayed in most of the weekend, didn't do as much work as I should have (the History of Film people must be joking... as if I'm going to go view 3 documentaries in the library!! It's bad enough to have to read over 100 pages of the bloody course book by tomorrow). I did finish writing Chapter 4 for my fanfiction 'Holocaust' which can be found on fanfiction.net under the pen name Amiastine. I might also put it on adultfan, soon.
I overslept this morning... ok the dream I was having was cool (if weird), but I managed to switch my alarm off when it rang at 9 and only get out of bed by at 12.30... my lack of self-discipline disgusts me sometimes. No wonder I can never write anything longer than a certain amount of pages or chapters... Oh well. I guess I'm going to have to work towards that one. At least I didn't have any lectures today. It's nice having a 4-day weekend, as opposed to 3 days of lectures and seminars... hehe. It's like having a holiday every week. Unfortunately, it won't last. I really should work. Damn.
30 days 'till I see my love again... I should stop counting... I really should. But at least it gives me something to do. My lack of self-discipline in these dark hours of waiting has regressed even more: I specifically said I wouldn't go to Time or Academi before next Monday... but since Audrey can't go then, we're going tonight. I'm looking forward to it, but feeling slightly guilty at the same time. Just have to make the most of it and try not to be nostalgic.

'Nough for now.

I have a house!!!!! OMG!!!!! Well 'have'... ok, ok, we're signing the contract tomorrow and we're only going to move in in September... but it's soooo cool!! It's a really nice house too!! Now I don't have to wait for that anymore (one less thing on my waiting list, which makes me considerably happier ^^)! It's silly really but... I feel all grown-up!! More than when leaving home to go to uni... a house!!! Sure it's for maximum two years (for me, as I am quite sure I won't be doing a Masters in Bangor), but it's still a home... more than halls will be anyway!
And I get one of the two rooms I wanted ^^... just don't know which one... a huge one or a massive one... lol. Both have double beds, so I don't really care in the end. Probably the 'blue' room... (don't think it's even blue... it just seemed that way as the light switch wasn't working when we saw it)... yeah that'd be nice.
Also I'm starting second semester lectures tomorrow! That's going to be interesting... I'm just happy I don't have critical interpretations until wednesday... cause it really sounds like such a bore. Luckily, tomorrow it's 4 whole hours of History of Film and 1 hours of Creative Writing - Poetry (hehe, looking forward to that). And signing the contract... and paying the deposit (not so fun). But that will seal it!!! Hipee!

First of all I want to thank my dear friend Kat for doing such a wonderful job with what used to be an awfully ugly and plain l-j, which I never ever wanted to visit because it looked pathetic... anyhoo it's fixed now!!! And it's prettyyyy!!! Merci ma belle!!

Then... well, haha. I now have a space to rant and rave and generally complain, while occasionally posting crappy pieces of my writing. Shall I start now? Not with the pieces of writing... haven't quite got the whole link thing (ok I'm a total newbie, bear with me, hold the dogs) down pat. I will be working on it... slowly. However. I can complain. As much as I like. MWAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Here goes:

I haaaaaaaaate waiting.

There. I feel truly liberated. Even though it still doesn't take away the fact that I must spend all of the end of my young life (up until the age of 21) waiting. Continuously. With brief reprieves in between. And I shall do so gladly and without complai-... gah. Whatever. *sniffle*

Yet again I'm having to appologize for lack of presence... it's just, I don't seem to be able to do something nice with this l-j and I just post most things on my msn blog... will try to remedy that soon. Promise.

It's been a while, I know... actually, I just came on here to look for an avatar to use on http://www.rivages-maudits.com/forum a brill Robin Hobb forum (in French), but thought I might enter something in the journal.
Dunno what to write so I'll put a list of good books you can read:

(in that order)
-Farseers Trilogy, by Robin Hobb
-Livership Traders Trilogy, by Robin Hobb
-Tawny Man Trilogy, by Robin Hobb

-The Rainbow Opera, by Elizabeth Knox
-The Old Kingdom Trilogy, by Garth Nix
-Harry Potter, by J.K.Rowling (I feel a duty to put it here, even though most people have read it)
-His Dark Materials, by Philip Pullman

That should keep you busy for a while... ^^
Also, I recommend listening to The Libertines, Flogging Molly and any type of film music while reading... especially the Hobb books ^^

Hey everyone...
I don't post much on here, but I felt I really needed to write this down and I told my dear friend Mimi I would, so... (she might kill me... yet she might not).
Ever since last year, when we first met, Mimi and I have made it a sort of rule to eat together every thursday (mondays have added themselves into the book as well, somehow) in the caff... tuna sandwich, with yoghurt for me and ice tea for Mimi.
Let me explain the ambiguity of the situation: we are British. In a Swiss school. There are other British and English-speaking people in said-school, but not many, and they hardly ever come to the caff on thursday lunchtimes. Which is good... though occasionnally an English teacher will eat there, but we try and make an effort to be veeeery quiet... I shall now show you why (don't read if easily offended by talk of slash and mention of body parts with food):

Thursday the 25th of August 2005, 11h55, school caff.

Me: a friend wrote me a story for my birthday... I'm writing one for her, now, 'cause I got an idea. Ooh, while we're at it, would you like me to write you a three chapter-long slash scene for your 18th birthday??

Mimi (all cross-eyed and drooling): Yeah...

Me: I'd have to read loads of slash before though, being not used to writing it.

Mimi: It's a good excuse.

Me: Yeah, lol.

Mimi: But, you know, it's not really different from het... you just take out the boobs and... well, put in more dicks.

First burst of laughter... caff ladies looking at us strangely (they do NOT speak English... well I sure hell hope not).

Me: Well, you can still have nipples...

Mimi: Oooh nipples!!

Me: yeah, nipples!!

More laughter, people openly pointedly ignoring us (I repeat, all French, no English).

Mimi: Nipples with custard...read a fic with that in once.

Me: Custard??? Hot or cold??

Mimi: Hot, I think it was.

Me: Nice.

Mimi picks up ice tea bottle, while laughing.

Mimi: I can't drink, you'll make me choke. (I make a point of trying to make her laugh every time she starts to drink... it's hilarious to watch)

Me: Imagine it's a nipple.

Mimi: it's too big.

Me: Imagine it's Hagrid's nipple.

I really don't know why she wouldn't touch it after that... anyway, we were too far gone at that point (I'd choked on my yoghurt yonks ago).
If I ever find out someone in that caff understood us I'll throw myself off the Atronomy Tower... but then it's the whole, having 30 people around us knowing nothing about fics and slash that make it so much funnier.
Anyway, that's it for act one.
